TCP Introduces Its Salutatorian and... Co-Valedictorians?
By Jeremy DeRois
On Thursday, May 13th, TCP held its annual awards ceremony to honor both the high-achieving scholars and all of the graduating seniors and juniors. Also, the TCP administration annually announces its senior class salutatorian and valedictorian at the end of the ceremony. This year, however, the announcement was a little bit different.
The audience drew in a gasp of shock when Mrs. Milliken announced that Jeannie Wood was salutatorian. Everyone was happy for him, but most of the students knew what was going to come next: the announcement of valedictorian. Anyone who knows Stephen and Rachel Underwood knows that they have been competing for the title of valedictorian since their freshman year, and this announcement was the final climax of it. But when someone else was announced for salutatorian, they wondered if one was going to be cut out completely.[more]
Memories from the Top
By Joe Levie
Our seniors have had memorable experiences at TCP that they will never forget. All the service, spirit, and fun character each senior has shown is a permanent glow added on to the heritage of Tri City. From Stephen Underwood conducting pep assemblies and harassing poor freshmen to Summer Reynolds and Sam Brand sparking up the baseball diamond or basketball court in hunger of their avid appetite for sports. There was the Halloween when Max Efrein dressed up as the bum who did Kung Fu, sending everyone into fits of laughter around him. And who could forget Rachel Underwood’s violent hiccups that repeatedly startle everyone? [more]

Those three letters can instantly bring fear and stress. According to Mrs. Norris, there are some simple steps to take to help prepare to take this test, and also to lessen the stress of the experience.
The first thing is that students should take the PSAT the fall of their junior year. After this, take as many practice SAT tests as possible. Some programs will offer up to 11 but try for at least 3-4. Reading challenging literature, and expanding vocabulary, will help immensely.
But still, why does it matter? [more] |
