New President Pushes for Personal Initiative
By Rachel Underwood
On April 27th, 2010, the Tri-City Prep student body ushered into office a new executive board, electing future senior Jeremy DeRois as President, Korynne Pflueger as Vice President, Evelyn Ballard as Treasurer and Elizabeth Earl as Secretary. We sat down with the new President of Student Council, Jeremy DeRois, and asked him a few questions. Jeremy showed great personal initiative, but he requested that the future student body step up to the plate as well. “I want everyone to show initiative without having to be told,” he said. “I want them to step up and participate on their own, instead of someone asking them to. I feel that will help make our school run smoother.” He went on further to specify that he wanted “Student Council members to show an interest in the school…[such as] showing up to Art Shows [even] if they're not in art…That's one of the biggest things I want to accomplish.”
In addition to his visionary goals for school spirit, Mr. DeRois gave a few ideas for overall school improvement; one of these was extending lunch. However, he did note that this would incur shorter passing periods, and would greatly appreciate “some feedback on what everyone [students] would rather have, regular passing periods or a longer lunch.”
Besides the primary Executive Board, each class has their own class representatives, Vice President and President. This year the classes chose quite well:
Seniors:
President: Colten Lindauer
VP: Mandy Montgomery
Class Reps: Rebekah Sitters and Joe Levie
Juniors:
President: Kevin Andreasky
VP: Katy Chandler
Class Reps: Amanda Romaine and Bethany Ford
Sophomores:
President: Sarah Cramer
VP: Lexi Seherr-Thoss
Class Reps: Ryan Deckard and Amy Miller
Congratulations the Student Council members of 2010-2011!
