Rowers Bring home Gold and Silver from Salt Lake

May 15, 2010, Tri-City College Prep rowers attended the Brine Shrimp Regatta in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was successful and rewarding.
It was a 3 day trip, two days of driving, and one of competing. The racing is the exciting part, but most enjoy the social aspect of long van rides as well, “You know you have good friends if you can ride in a van for 12 hours with them, and survive,” said Junior rower Trevor Larson.
The regatta consisted of two other teams, both from Utah, and Tri-City. The races Tri-City were entered in did well, they placed 2nd in several races, and 1st in the novice boat and intermediate junior boat.
Though it was nice to have victories the overall experience was great as well. Both Deanna D’Alessandro and Marissa Branson (seniors on the team) said it was a nice way to end the year, and awesome that they could leave their high school rowing careers with medals.
“It was a great experience. Both Utah teams were extrememly nice and I could definitely see this regatta blooming into other great experiences with their team,” said Mrs. Halvorson,
