Senior Auction Fun and a Success Overall

By Danielle Oquist and Colten Lindauer
On April 4th, the Senior class hosted the Senior Auction in the auditorium which was once again, a success. Adriana Racine, Jeannie Wood, Rachel Underwood, and Kim Deckard put it together and it was incredible.
“Overall I think it well extremely well and we even made enough money for graduation so that was a plus.” said Mrs. Milliken “I think it was fun overall for everyone there.”
Many of the students agreed. “It was a lot of fun!” said Shaelynn McCormack, “I had a great time.”
However, not every student liked what was happening. “The concept kind of disturbed me, and the pressure that was placed on some people was kind of sad.” said an anonymous freshman.
Many of the upper classmen were a little curious about the fact that it was solely a senior auction and other things weren’t auctioned off like previous years. When asked, Mrs. Milliken said “The senior class decided to make it a solely senior auction after we couldn’t get the extras put together. Like last year, for example, when we auctioned off the chance to smash a computer hard drive, it was pretty much because Mr. Halvorson had one available. This year was still enjoyable without it, I think.” Many of the students agreed and overall it was indeed a success.
Part of buying a Senior at the auction was having the opportunity to take dance lessons. On April 9th, the auctioned off seniors and their dates met at Summer’s Danceworks, a popular dance studio on Miller Valley Rd, in Prescott. The owner, Summer Hinton, said that she was happy to see many returning faces and was proud of how quickly they learned. She has been teaching dance in Prescott since 1994, and spent time as a professional dancer straight out of high school. Summer and her dancing assistant, Russel, taught the TCP students social dancing, a type of partner dancing that fits most music, and the basics of waltz. After the class, the students couldn’t wait to show off their new moves at the Masquerade Dance.
The Senior Auction and dance lesson traditions should continue in the years to come and hopefully we will have as much fun as this one.
