Spirit Week Results in Mixed Reviews
By Sarah Cramer
The week of December 7th through December 10 was Spirit Week at TCP. Overall, the turnout seemed good, and people seemed to be enjoying themselves despite the cold weather.
Monday was Pajama Day. “It was embarrassing but still really fun to wear a bathrobe to school and have my hair really messy,” said Anna Flurry. She says Pajama Day was her favorite. Many students participated in Pajama Day. Mercedes Kline said it was “hilariously funny seeing all the different types of pajamas.”
Tuesday was Tropics in the Winter Day, where there were a multitude of different colored leis and flowers. Wednesday, Sports Day, had many football jerseys, face paint, and even a panther walking about. Thursday was School Spirit day, including a fun-filled pep assembly organized by Student Council.
“It (Spirit Week) was a great way to raise school spirit and a lot of people got involved,” David Baker said. Ben Nye said it was a good thing because a lot of people got to do it. “It was a chance for us to be creative- Student Council did a great job planning it!” said Blair Willette. “The school was full of spirit,” added Ashley Nache.
Spirit Week was very popular among some, but others didn’t enjoy it as much. “(It was) pretty cool (but a) bad time to have it,” says Kyle Cochran. “PJ and Tropics were both bad ideas because of the weather,” said Emily Wheeler. Many agree, saying the weather was too cold. “Next time they need to have it when it’s warmer,” one student said.
Some students disagreed with the theme choices as well. “I think Spirit Week should have slightly more interesting topics, because Pajama Day, Sport Day, and School Spirit Day aren’t that original,” says Anna Flurry. “Every year I do participate in this event, because normally it’s really fun, but this year I feel that there has been a poor choice in themes for each day,” Emily Wheeler said. Hailey Barnes suggested that Student Council should do “Gender Bender” next year, where girls dress as guys and guys dress as girls.
Overall, Spirit Week had a good turnout and most Students participated. |
