TCP Art Guild Movie Nights
By Tedd Mostert
Beginning in February, Art Guild has hosted movie nights in the auditorium for student enjoyment and entertainment every Wednesday during 7th period. The admission is free and popcorn is available in bags; just like in an actual movie theater. What sets it apart from a real movie theater is the fact that the auditorium is but a few steps away, and one can watch movies with friends without whispering to others about being quiet or being distracted by distracting lights from cell phones or electronic devices. Another differentiating factor is that all costs help contribute to the Tri City Prep Art Guild funds for future art trips and for the school’s art supplies.
Up to this point this event has been a moderate success, with a typical audience of 7-10 students at any time, though not always the same students as the previous time. Some are just too busy to show up, but a larger factor to the smaller audience could be unaware of the occasion. This is not a concern for the Art Guild; as the word spreads, more will hear about this weekly event, and the outcome of participants will increase. It is an experience not offered by the majority of schools. It would be wise to take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy older favorites on the big screen, such as the previously shown Princess’ Bride and Just Visiting, or escape from stress to have a good time with friends.
Unfortunately, the audience in the auditorium at any time during the movie may not exceed 15 since no more can be designated to one chaperone, which happens to be Mr. T. Currently, Art Guild is seeking those who are willing to help Art Guild make more room for more anticipating movie-goers. In the future Art Guild is also considering the possibility of opening another time frame to sell hot coca in during the remaining winter months. It is cold outside, so consider stopping by and warming up for a bit with the Art Guild! |
