TCP Gets Wild for Spirit Week

By Blair Willette and Amy Miller
As we all know, Tri-city students don’t have as much school spirit as Bradshaw or PHS. However, from April 12th through the 15th, students succeeded in making spirit week creative.
On Monday, April 12th, movie day, we had many inspired characters. Russell Famas was wearing a Darth Vader mask, obviously from the series Star Wars. Blair Willette was Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, complete with jingle bells and antlers. We even had Lois Lane and Clark Kent walking around our school, dressed by Bekkah Sitters and Jeremy DeRois.
Another character that stood out was Marisa Magdeleno’s hobbit from Lord of the Rings. She even added the hairy feet, with stage make up, mind you. Magdeleno says, “I am a hobbit…Yeah, I’m a geek with hairy feet and I realize this.”
To complete movie day, we also had an Alice in Wonderland fanatic, Jasmine from the movie Aladin, superhero-themed outfits, and even a Pocahontas.
April 13th, Tuesday, was Crazy Hair/Hat day. Kyle Cochran wore a hot dog hat and was continuously attacked by the comment, “You have a hot dog on your head!”Amy Miller was the famous Mad Hatter, from Alice in Wonderland. Kenny Spahn dyed his hair bright green. Josh Perry slicked his hair back and looked like a character from Grease. There was a Mickey & Minnie Mouse couple, Amanda Romaine and Nick Willey, complete with mouse ears.
Wednesday, April 14th, was Rock Day. Students dressed up as their favorite rock band. Rachel Bunch, Rebekkah Sitters, Kory Pfluegar, and Evelyn Ballard were Kiss. They spent all of first period painting their faces exactly like the band.
Kyler Pittman was Slash with the sunglasses and long, curly hair. When asked why she didn’t dress up for Rock Band Day, Mrs. Winters said, “Because I don’t have any white go-go boots to be Abba!” Breanne Matthews pulled off Lady Gaga in a bathing suit over her jeans and t-shirt.
To complete Rock Band Day, people were walking around in skinny jeans, fishnet stockings, teased hair, Beatle shirts, and other Rock styles.
Like any other college day for any other school, Tri-city students were dressed in college jerseys and sweatshirts on April 15th. There were students with apparel from Princeton, Notre Dame, ASU, and of course, Mr. Burgess was decked out in Alabama sweats and jacket.
All in all, students exhibited more school spirit in one week than you would see all year from Tri-city Prep. And, this was the one out of two weeks that people could come to school dressed however they wanted to!
